Karl Kleinermanns was born in Cologne on 9th January 1950 as second child of Franz and Irmfriede Kleinermanns. He studied chemistry at the RWTH Aachen, did his doctorate in Göttingen and habilitation in Heidelberg and was appointed as full-professor for Physical Chemistry at the Heinrich-Heine Universität Düsseldorf in 1989. There he explored (laser)light-induced chemical and physical processes (Wikipedia) but the aesthetics of light and colors fascinated him from the very beginning beyond research.

At the university he developed and produced digital lectures with colored graphics and educational films with three-dimensional animations.

Since his retirement 2013 Kleinermanns decided for figurative painting instead of computer-based graphics and animations because “it is relaxing and stimulating at the same time to express emotions, dream images and fantasies with the simple tools of painting.”

Training in drawing and watercolor and oil painting by Heinz Schweizer, Andreas Mattern, Gerd Renshof, Sabine Hilscher, Jutta Höfs, Wilfried Ploderer, Erwin Grüneschild (and countless you tube artists).
